Remedial massage at Myomasters
One service, adapted to you
You do not need to diagnose yourself, choose a massage style or decide which technique you need before booking.
At Myomasters, appointments are booked as remedial massage. I adapt the pressure, pace, positioning and techniques according to what has been happening, what you want from treatment and how your body responds.
Treatment may be focused and firm, slow and calming, movement-based, or a combination of these approaches. The technique may change, but the purpose remains the same: to provide massage that is useful, comfortable to receive and relevant to your life.
What would you like help with?
People come to Myomasters for different reasons. You do not need to fit neatly into one category, and an appointment can respond to more than one concern.
Pain and uncomfortable movement
You may be managing a persistent ache, muscular discomfort, an older injury or movement that has become uncomfortable.
Remedial massage may help change how an area feels, reduce tenderness or make movement feel more comfortable. Assessment is used when it helps guide treatment or gives us something useful to review.
Sports massage and active recovery
Running, swimming, strength training, martial arts, HYROX and other physical activities place particular demands on the body.
Treatment can be adapted around your training, current symptoms and movement goals. This may include general massage, focused pressure, therapist-assisted movement, stretching, dry needling or cupping.
Jaw and facial discomfort
Jaw tension and discomfort can affect eating, speaking, sleeping and ordinary daily comfort.
Treatment may include massage around the jaw, face, head, neck and shoulders. Intraoral massage can also be discussed when it is appropriate and you are comfortable including it.
Stress and the need to slow down
Sometimes the purpose of an appointment is to rest, settle and feel less physically guarded.
Massage can still have a remedial purpose while being quiet, comfortable and deeply relaxing. Pressure and conversation can be adjusted to suit what you need from the appointment.
Scar sensitivity and comfort
Scars can sometimes feel sensitive, tight, numb or uncomfortable.
Gentle scar massage may be included when the area has healed sufficiently and massage is appropriate. Treatment should be gradual, respectful and guided by your comfort.
Techniques are tools, not separate services
I draw from a range of massage and bodywork techniques. You do not need to select one when booking.
Depending on your goals, preferences and response, treatment may include:
- Swedish and general massage techniques
- deep-tissue and trigger-point techniques
- myofascial approaches
- gentle sustained contact
- therapist-assisted movement and stretching
- myofascial glide cupping
- Functional Release Cupping
- craniosacral techniques
- dry needling
- intraoral massage for jaw-related concerns
Not every technique is appropriate for every person or every appointment. I will explain techniques that require particular discussion or consent before using them.
Myofascial approaches
The myofascial techniques I use are generally slower and lower in pressure. They may be useful when an area feels sensitive or guarded, or when sustained contact feels more comfortable than stronger or faster massage.
Cupping
Cupping may be used as part of remedial massage rather than booked as a separate service.
Myofascial glide cupping involves moving a cup across the skin. Functional Release Cupping combines cups with comfortable movement. Both approaches are adapted to your preferences and treatment goals.
Dry needling
Dry needling uses fine, sterile needles placed into selected areas of muscle or related tissue.
I may suggest dry needling when it has a sensible purpose within your treatment. It is optional and will only be used after I have explained what is involved, discussed relevant risks and obtained your consent.
You do not need to choose dry needling when booking. Book a remedial massage and we can discuss whether it is appropriate for you.
Firm pressure is still welcome
You can request firm pressure.
Firm pressure can feel satisfying and useful when it suits you. I generally allow pressure to build gradually so you can decide whether it feels helpful, merely intense or unpleasant.
More pressure is not automatically better treatment. You can ask for the pressure, position, area or technique to change at any time.
Choose the right booking pathway
New to Myomasters?
Your first appointment includes time to discuss what has been happening, what you would like help with and anything that may affect treatment.
You do not need to arrive with the correct explanation for your symptoms. Book a First Appointment through the online booking system and we will work from there.
Returning to Myomasters?
Choose a returning-client appointment, including when you have a new concern or it has been some time since your last visit.
Appointments are available for 30, 60 or 90 minutes. A 30-minute appointment is best suited to a short, focused treatment. Choose 60 or 90 minutes when you need more time, have several areas you would like addressed or prefer a less hurried pace.
Frequently asked questions
Which service should I book?
Book a remedial massage appointment. You do not need to select a technique or treatment style. If you are new to Myomasters, choose a First Appointment. If you have attended before, choose a returning-client appointment.
Can I request a particular technique?
Yes. Tell me if there is an approach you have found helpful or would like to discuss. A requested technique will only be used when it is appropriate, within my professional scope and comfortable for both of us.
Can remedial massage also be relaxing?
Yes. Remedial massage describes the purpose of the appointment, not how painful or intense it must be. Treatment can be focused and useful while also feeling comfortable, satisfying and relaxing.
Can I claim a health-fund rebate?
I am registered with all major Australian health funds and HICAPS is available at the clinic. Whether you can claim a rebate, and how much you receive, depends on your individual policy and level of cover. Check with your health fund if you are unsure.
How long should I book?
A 60-minute appointment is appropriate for most people. Choose 90 minutes if you would like more time, have several concerns or prefer a slower appointment. Returning clients may choose 30 minutes for short, targeted treatment.
